Frequently Asked Questions
We offer a range of standard poster sizes which cover most event, retail, and promotional applications. We can also produce custom sizes for projects that need something outside the standard range. If you're not sure what size works best for your intended display location, we're happy to help you think it through before you commit to a design.
Target resolution should be 300 dpi at the final print size. The larger the poster, the more critical this becomes — an image that looks sharp on screen at a small size can print soft or pixelated when enlarged.. If you're working with photography or detailed graphics, check your image resolution before finalizing your file and contact us if you're not sure whether it will hold up at size.
A print-ready PDF is the preferred format, with images embedded at full resolution and bleed included on all edges. We recommend at least an eighth of an inch of bleed beyond the trim line to ensure nothing important gets cut off during finishing. If your poster includes large areas of color extending to the edge, bleed is especially important to get right.
For most indoor posters, we recommend a coated gloss or matte stock in the 80lb to 100lb cover weight range. Gloss stock makes colors vivid and images sharp, which works well for event posters and retail displays. Matte stock is easier to read under bright or fluorescent lighting and gives a more refined, gallery-like appearance. For outdoor use or high-traffic areas, we can discuss more durable substrate options.
